PVG Regulated Roles
PVG Regulated roles online ‘guidance’ tool is now live
Your Local Authority should by now have circulated information about how they are approaching the changes that come into force on 1 April 2025. Disclosure Scotland have provided the following information.
A new tool to help you check if a role needs PVG scheme membership.
From 1 April 2025, the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme becomes a legal requirement for anyone carrying out a regulated role.
If you work or volunteer with a child or protected adult in a regulated role or employ someone (paid or voluntary) in a regulated role you must assess your role(s) against the criteria for regulated roles.
To help you do this, we’ve produced an online ‘guidance’ tool.
The tool is designed to help you get ready for the changes to the disclosure system that come into force on 1 April. You should submit PVG applications as normal until then.
Our Customer Engagement Team (CET) are continuing their programme of training and events on the Disclosure Act, including sessions on regulated roles. You can sign up for these on Disclosure Scotland’s events page.
If you’re still unsure after using the online ‘guidance’ tool, our CET can guide you in your assessment. To use this service, email DisclosureAct@disclosurescotland.gov.scot.
More guidance on regulated roles will be published on the Disclosure Scotland website soon.
