Scottish Learning Festival 2016: promoting excellence and equity for all
Dear colleague,
I am pleased to announce that the Scottish Learning Festival (SLF) 2016 will take place on Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 September in the SECC, Glasgow.
The Scottish Learning Festival 2016: Promoting excellence and equity for all through:
- school leadership and school improvement;
- assessing children’s progress and parental engagement; and
- teacher professionalism.
The Festival will once again provide high-quality continuing professional learning for practitioners across all sectors of education and will enable educational professionals to engage with colleagues and a diverse range of experts, colleagues and suppliers. Those taking part in or attending the event will share thinking, and stimulate and challenge key leaders and practitioners in Scottish education to help take forward our ambitious agenda to take our system from being ‘good’ to being ‘great’.
The call for seminar proposals for this year’s Festival is now open. I would be grateful if you could draw this opportunity to the attention of your staff and encourage and support proposals from your authority. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase at a national level the work taking place in your authority.
Further information about the theme, along with a link to the call for seminars form is available on the SLF website. The deadline for submitting proposals is Friday 19 February.
Proposals received after this date will not be considered for inclusion in the conference programme. Last year, we received in excess of 300 proposals, which allowed Education Scotland to deliver a relevant and balanced conference programme covering all key areas of education. The 2016 programme and registration will be launched in May.
We look forward to receiving proposals and hope you will continue to promote and support SLF in 2016 to help Education Scotland continue to deliver Scotland’s largest annual national professional learning event in education. If you would like any further information on SLF 2016, please contact Elaine Docherty.
Yours sincerely
Alan Armstrong
