Sharing Good Practice event – Citizen Science in the Community: Tuesday 5th May, Battleby

This event is aimed at everyone who works with community groups, young people and schools in the outdoors and who has an interest in building wider engagement in citizen science activities.

Public involvement in monitoring our environment is growing; individuals, communities, groups and young people across Scotland are getting involved in designing and contributing to citizen science surveys and projects. Citizen science enables people to get involved in understanding and protecting their local environment, helping to build a wider appreciation of the natural world and of our impacts upon it. This event will look at ongoing and new opportunities for getting involved in local environmental surveying – focussing on air, water and soil & land. Participants will be able to consider long-term monitoring of environmental quality and how to use tools such as sensors, new mobile technologies and photography in environmental monitoring and recording.

Further information and a booking form can be found on theĀ Scottish Natural Heritage website.
