Update from NAF – February 2016

An update from the National Access Forum has been provided by SAAF and is attached as a word document.

Rob Garner from NAF also attached details of a re-cycling campaign being run by APRS that he was asked to circulate. The campaign director Betsy Reed has supplied the following details:

The ‘Have You Got The Bottle?’ campaign is run by the Association for the Protection of Rural Scotland (APRS) and seeks to persuade the Scottish Government to introduce a deposit return system (DRS) for glass, metal and plastic drinks containers. Such a system exists in many countries and regions around the world, like Canada, Australia, Norway, Lithuania and Beirut and has been proven to reduce litter and boost recycling rates.

The campaign has grown in leaps and bounds since its launch last September and we now have 13 organisations with a combined membership of around 200,000 people in Scotland.  Partners include Ramblers Scotland, the Woodland Trust Scotland, WWF Scotland, Changeworks Recycling and others.

We would like to invite the member organisations of NAF to join the campaign as partners. This is fairly straightforward and simply involves allowing us to put their logo and a quote from them on our website. If they would like to be more active as partners, they can help by being active with us on Twitter and Facebook, participating in events and trips we host and sending out information about the campaign to their membership.

Further information can be found on our website here and we are active on Twitter @yougotthebottle and Facebook, which gives a good feel for the day-to-day communications around the campaign.   Betsy Reed: Betsy@haveyougotthebottle.org.uk
